Last weekend we made a long drive to Étretat along small roads of Picardy and Normandy following the coastline past Wissant, Dieppe and small port of Fécamp.
From the tunnel we drove along some of the toll roads across large viaducts but enjoyed best driving along the smaller roads, watching tractors busy in the fields with the sea in the distance – stopping for croissants and to walk round the market in Dieppe and for a local butter and apple pancake there.
We did try macdonalds but they didnt sell vegetarian wraps.
At Etretat, we walked along the beach then sat outside in a cafe with a hot chocolate , watching the sun go down and people make the climb up to the small church on the cliff top – painted by Monet. There is a sign on the promenade where he is meant to have stood to paint this view
