Even in Sussex today, we felt the eerie presence of Ophelia travel across the UK -the sun turned red early afternoon from sand brought in the strong winds from the Sahara and the sky changed to a dark yellow because of smoke picked up from the forest fires in Spain.
It was like nighttime – like a total eclipse that lasted all afternoon.
But it is Ireland, Wales and Scotland which are right in the path and we hope the winds soon die down and people keep safe.
We know compared to the devastation in the Caribbean, we are very lucky – for us – this only happens, perhaps once or twice in a lifetime
We felt the end of Hurricane Maria when we were in Ireland, two weeks ago, also on a Monday – winds gusting up to 80 mph but at nighttime, everything rattled and you felt you were in a vacumn and wondered if our car would still be there when we looked out in the morning.
