Reallised walking into a local Lidl supermarket that you can enter but you can never leave .. unless you walk through the whole store and out through the checkouts. This only happened because i was trying to go back outside to get a trolley. And when you leave – will get a huge car park fine if you forget to scan your receipt and give your car reg.
In Ikea we have worked out the shortcuts and the doors to open – to another level.
Walking round the Lidl store asked in the Bakery for yeast to make a pizza and told they didnt have this as everything in the Bakery was made somewhere else and imported packaged vegetables have no sell by dates and told you dont need them, you can smell when the food is off. This is true but reassuring to know they are there. Always hope too there will be more German products in Lidl but this seems to be only the case in Germany. But its a German store and this would be a unique selling point – German Beer would be nice.
Think you get comfortable with the supermarkets that you become familiar with but its good to shop around.
Driving to a bigger Supermarkets another time wondered if i could give up supermarkets totally and shop local – the catch would be, things i take for granted – food will be fresh, will be a good price and sourced well.
But perhaps shopping more strategically and in more than one shop is a beginning.
