Had an interesting conversation with our oil delivery man about his feelings on his treatment by angry drivers when he stops his tanker to deliver oil to places like ours in the country. He said ours was just about ok but other places on even smaller roads with nowhere for him to pull off the road – he was considering refusing to deliver to. He said the abuse he was getting was horrendous – one example where a man flipped because he had to take his dog to the vet and the oil van was in his way and this man said he would come back afterwards and do something horrible to him.
Suggested having a dash cam to deter people but this man said by the time they reallise – it will be too late for me or a large smiley face on his tanker to somehow cool people down.
But its easy for me to wonder why people get so upset to be held up for 10 minutes – who knows if something similar wouldn’t press my buttons – you hope it wouldn’t – cycling peloton, two abreast on small single track roads, arms crossed chatting – turn me a little wild and there are lots round us as we live near a National Park – but stress so bad you turn into an angry animal at a small delay – we need to put a lid on it, hop out and help the man.
