‘That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history ‘ -Aldous Huxley

Trying not to think about what our politicians are up to but wonder if any of them focus anymore on the real politics of everyday – schools, crimes, NHS…

We should feel our country is in a ‘safe pair of hands’ but often feels the opposite – more like they make things up as they go along and much of what is happening feels like posturing and nursery tantrums and include politicians in both UK, America and Europe in this. This might sound harsh but do these people really think/care why Europe and the Eurozone was formed in the first place – to bring harmony to a very divided Europe emerging from the horrors of a second World War.

I voted ‘remain’ for this reason and because although countrys like Switzerland, Norway and Canada are very charming countrys – they are very expensive to visit – which deters visitors and although beautiful places and some on our doorstep – distant from the rest of the World. Is this what we really want?. Personally want the chance and for future generations to have the chance to travel and live freely in a connected Europe.

But there is another country – Japan – who enigmatically shut their doors to the rest of the World to preserve their culture and also devasted by a World War – wonder if this is the country if we want to go it alone – we should be emulating?

Today we are a multi-cultural country which makes us stronger – do we really want to loose this going forward by shutting our doors to our neighbours and effectively forbidding our children to explore and learn from the rich diversity (intelligence and culture) of our World?
