Going to Ikea has always been one of our favorite shopping trips – love the Scandinavian materials and gadgets, lighting department and interesting things round every corner – especially at Christmas always encouraging us to spend too much.
But today was the first time felt it had been a mistake to make the long drive to our nearest store. Small sense of fear walking in and seeing two security guards prominently watching the checkouts, disappointment that the product we wanted – a mattress topper was no longer available in European sizes and similar unavailable except by paying £35s for home delivery and this department was closed currently in this store.
Didnt feel the Hygge – cozy feeling of being wrapped in a warm magical blanket – it had evaporated, for me and left was atmosphere almost like first day of a Sale – unloved, routine and if you didnt grab something quickly – you would be trampled in a rush of frenzied people.
