Discovered a new section in the admin side of Etsy – Integrations – with ‘tools that help you run, market, optimise and enhance your business’ and in this section was – Musefind, a free app which at first seemed wonderful opportunity to help find influencers to promote what you do.. but
And there is always a but – by signing up my store to this app, i was told innocently that would be giving them access to modify my store in various ways.
Thinking about all the consequences with GDPR, the problems Facebook and other third party apps have brought into the light – decided sadly to stop my signup. Looking a lttle around Musefind which was definitly very difficult to do without signing up – there seemed to be a pricing structure.
Mostly what worried me was not the pricing but giving an app access to my store.
Im not sure if im over cautious or there really is no such thing as a free lunch?
Chatting with a friend working in telecomms about the pros and cons of apps today, feel a little bit of a dinosaur – can see the benefits of apps but also the large bear traps you can fall into. Wonder why they are allowed to put a clause into signing up – that by doing so – you give away rights to access and change your stuff?
