French Toll Roads, Swiss Vignette and ViaMichelin

Finally have some time and worked out how much spent on toll roads during a short road trip through France this summer – a lot, more than double the cost of a vignette for Switzerland valid for 6 months.

Even more when you include the almost 3% interest rate my bank charged me for converting euros back to stirling when i used my visa to pay the tolls, Hopefully when there is a next time, if dont have time to plan a route (viamichelin) will take plenty of euro coins and notes to pay the tolls.

Driving round Paris – i got lost and with deepening fear noticed the traffic suddenly getting less and reallised rather than heading towards Calais in a big rush to check in for the lunchtime ferry – we were disappearing on another road south – towards Bordeaux. For a moment, thought – why not and then paid to leave the toll road and again to rejoin it in the other direction and have another go at getting round Paris.
