On the hotest day since records began, i was crawling around London on M25 from our home on fairly long journey across England. When i set off about 7am the temperature in my car was a reasonable 22 degrees but in two hours climbed to 32 and most of journey home an extrordinary 39 degrees. It felt hotter. Think the thermostat in my car gave up at 39. In Paris – even hotter at around 42.
Air conditioing on but it was just recycling hot air blasting through the engine. Isnt the human body optimum at 37.5 degrees – guess this was like all of us – driving with a temperature.
Most of the journey was bumper to bumper because beginning of school holidays and many trains cancelled because of fear of derailment due to metal tracks buckling in the heat.
Passed a few cars with bonnets up beside the road and rest stops filled with familys bewildered by the heat – standing infront of refridegerators in M&S. First time in UK saw people with umbrellas up and it wasnt raining. Question on the radio – was how to sleep that night.
Was this evidence of Global Warming and what are we really going to do about it – before our beautiful Planet becomes a redundant Planet like Mars?
Perhaps one of the answers is plant Trees. and look after forests we already have
Yesterday was probably hotter in Westminster – the first day of another Leadership. For those who wonder – here is a link to ParliamentLiveTV
Whatever the outcome – something like the inevitable thunderstorm today – has to bring about change. Hopefully for the better.
Good points raised but what are the answers. We were all pouring water down our throats yesterday – but to what consequence – on plastic pollution, and if the intention is to ban clothes going into landfill sites – what will be the impact on parts of the World – whose livelihood depends on mass producing cheap clothes – bikins for £1.
