Before the virus arrived, went to an auction in a barn and bought several boxes of vinyl LPs for £11s. No one else wanted them. They are solid, maybe same era as records with dog logo – someone’s collection – not music but bird and whale sound tracks. Bought a record player with possibility to convert old LPs to modern media.
The thing about playing LPs is quality of the stylus, storing them upright and away from dust/heat/sunlight. Artwork on some of the covers is beautiful.
One of the places associate with buying music locally is The Union Music Store in Lewis Small quirky building on a side street, maybe cobbled near Lewes station. The place we would go locally to look for good deal on a record player – Richer Sounds – London Road in Brighton near the Fire Station. There is somewhere to park round the back (its on a very busy road) or old fashioned and terrifyingly low level access multi story car park. This part of Brighton near the station is more industrial and being developed but there are interesting businesses and side streets, if you look.
Some of our favorites – Exhibit Printing and Real Patisserie (yum yum yum)
