Conversation in our home about the problems of loss of life in the Channel seem to be about reinstating/increasing the Foreign aid to war torn developing countries who may be carrying the brunt of impacts of Climate Change in more developed countries.
Following link is for 2017 and shows Countries donating and those receiving the most Foreign Aid.
Know list out of date – but perhaps this is a good starting point for looking for solutions or for more research – compare with similar maps of 2021 and those which show where Global Warming, Famine, Wars are the worst.
These figures are before Brexit (31st January 2020) and before withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan (31st August 2021). Also before current Wars in Europe and more recently in the Middle East but the trend at the top of the table in 2022 is the same – US and Germany at the top, followed by UK – Sweden, France are lower down the table.
This could be compared to maps showing which countries are taking in most migrants over any routes and encouraging those that arn’t doing as much – to help more.
