To find alternatives for Energy in this warming World and considering what is happening in Ukraine – why would anyone build – more – Nuclear Power Plants (in UK) ?
We have Wind, Solar, Geothermal, Hydro-Power, Biomass and Tidal – as viable Renewable Energy alternatives. We also need to think much more about Insulation so we waste less Energy & Grants supporting ways to generate Electricity from our own homes and learning/being encouraged to use the Energy we need, more wisely.
Nuclear power as well as being more expensive to produce than other Renewables – a Reactor produces Energy for about 30 years
Then some nuclear waste produced can be active/need to be looked after & a risk to our health and our security – for a million years -on land, air and sea. An Ice Age could come and go in this time. Disasters like Windscale effected people in this area and the food produced & may still do – milk and Cumbrian Easter Lambs and places we want to go to.
We just forget or try not to think about it. No fast unthought through fixes.
Norway has none and Sweden is decommissioning theirs – which is a priority for Sweden in 2020s.
