This photograph of perhaps Pont Neuf was taken on way back from Hôtel-Dieu where visiting a friend very unwell at the time and was taking long way home to watch life on the river through central Paris. They got better.
In the summer people come down here to sunbathe and people watch, leaning against these old walls (and people going down the river – watch people on the banks.
Remember an old man with red scarf and bright eyes sitting next to my friend when i arrived – eating his lunch. One of his shoes was built up and his clothes were rustic and he told us he was a war veteran and looked after in this way. Desperate times – i think he felt he should have been looked after better.
